Yellow High Temperature Butyl Tape – Hot-Work Sealing Strip

High temperature butyl tape isn’t hardware-store stock. It's meant for turbine nacelles, aviation ground ducts, and oven-adjacent plant work. The compound takes continuous heat up to 150°C without softening into a gooey mess, and it withstands 150°C peaks for short spells – four hours, give or take. We added the yellow pigment not for looks, but for visual traceability. Inspectors spot it immediately on a white GRP panel or a galvanised flange. No second-guessing during a pre-flight walkaround or a tower climb.

It grabs powder-coated steel, anodised aluminium, and fibreglass-reinforced plastic without a primer coat. You press it on by hand, roll it flat, and it stays. Vibration doesn't shake it loose. Condensation doesn't track underneath. The formulation has no halogens or heavy-metal stabilisers, so it ticks the REACH boxes without any extra paperwork. If you accidentally pierce it during installation, the butyl mass flows back into the puncture – self-healing in a practical sense. We ran this stuff on a test rig alongside acrylic foam tape; the butyl outlasted the acrylic by three to one in cyclic thermal shock.

HOW TO USE

• Wipe the substrate with IPA or MEK.
• Cut the High temperature butyl tape to length.
• Peel off the liner.
• Lay it on with even pressure, then roll over it once with a silicone hand-roller.
• For butt joints, overlap by 25mm minimum and finger-press the overlap edge.
• That's the whole procedure.
