Two sided butyl tape is a butyl compound that never hardens. That’s the whole point – it stays putty like, so when the building shifts or the sun beats down, the tape moves with it. It grabs concrete, steel, aluminium, timber, glass, and most plastics without primer. For rough or dusty brick, a quick wipe with primer helps, but we’ve seen it work bare on clean surfaces. HOW TO USE

• Clean surfaces – dry, dust free, no grease.
• Cut to length – avoid stretching.
• Peel a short bit of liner, stick onto the first surface – press firmly.
• Remove the rest of the liner, bring the second part, and apply even pressure.
• Roll over with a hand roller to bed it in.
• For overhead work, support briefly until it grabs.

Q: Can I apply it in cold weather?
A: Yes, but below zero it stiffens. Keep rolls indoors overnight before use.

Q: Does it stick to painted metal?
A: Usually, but test a patch – some powder coatings are tricky.

Q: How long does it last?
A: 20 years plus – we’ve seen it on old roofs still holding tight.

Q: Can I paint over it?
A: Not really. Cover it with flashing if you need a neat finish.
