Did you ever pull up old deck boards and find rot right where the screws went in? Butyl deck joist tape stops that by sealing the wood before you lay a single plank.

15-20 WORKING DAYSButyl deck joist tape is single sided adhesive tape, so you just peel the liner and stick it down. No folding, no double layering. The joist tape for decking itself has three layers: a clear PE film on top , a thick butyl rubber adhesive in the middle, and a white release paper underneath that you pull off. That butyl does the real work – it squishes into little cracks and seals tight around every fastener. The clear film takes sun and rain without getting brittle. It's made for deck joists, but also for beam tops or any horizontal lumber that needs a waterproof barrier.

Butyl deck joist tape goes on top of joists before you lay decking. It seals nail holes and tiny cracks. Water can't get into the wood. That stops rot, mold, and rust on fasteners. Your deck stays solid for years. Simple stuff, works great.

Do I need to let the wood dry out completely?
Nope. That's the nice thing about butyl. If it's not dripping wet, just slap the tape on.
Will it leave sticky residue if I peel it up later?
Yeah, a bit. But you're not supposed to peel it up. It's a permanent seal. If you really need to, use a scraper and some mineral spirits.
Can I use butyl deck joist tape on metal beams?
Sure. Sticks fine to clean steel or aluminum. Wipe off any oil first.
How long will it last under a deck?
Longer than the deck boards. Figure 15–20 years easy. The UV won't hit it much once the planks are down.
What if I get a roll that sat in a hot warehouse?
The release liner might stick a little harder. Cool it down in the shade or a basement for an hour – peels right off
